How long have you been doing this?
I started Burrow & Bloom in 2020. I definitely dove in headfirst (it seems to be my way of doing things). COVID dramatically changed our pace of life and allowed me the chance to take a hobby and turn it into a business, as well as more time to dedicate towards learning and development.
Do you travel?
Arrangements for travel can be made. Please contact me directly if you are interested in a photoshoot outside of the Greater Victoria area.
How many photos do we get?
Each session package includes a set number of photos included in the session price, however my process does allow for the opportunity to choose additional images.
Do you retouch photos?
Yes, retouching is included as part of every photoshoot package. Prior to your session, a questionnaire will be sent that includes questions specific to your wishes and preferences for retouching.
What is your turnaround time?
This varies depending on schedule and workload, however you can expect to have your most galleries ready generally within 2-3 weeks after your shoot. Newborn sessions and weddings can take a bit longer depending on the volume of photos.
What is the photo delivery process? How do we get our photos?
I use a proofing gallery system with my clients. What this means, is that soon after your session, I deliver all of the best images from your session with just enough edits to give you a feel of what the final look will be- without all of the nitty gritty stuff such as skin retouching. From here, you then select the images you want me to edit in detail- whether that's the amount of images included or your session package, or that and extras!
Completed photos are uploaded to an online gallery in a high resolution format. From there you are able download digital copies of your images, and/or order a variety of prints products from a professional print lab.
Can you help us with planning?
Absolutely! I want to help you bring your vision to life. I am happy to work with you to plan out the finer details of your shoot.
How far out do you book?
This varies, I am currently booking into spring 2022.
How should we prepare our kids?
I offer a detailed client prep guide that I send out once bookings are confirmed that includes how to prep kids, but the most important thing is to talk to them! Let them know ahead of time that they will be having their photos taken. On the day of the shoot, aim for well-slept, well-fed kids. It never hurts to have some incentive in place either- ie. a new book or small toy, a promise for an outing for ice cream afterwards.
What should we wear?
This depends on the look and feel you are hoping for, and of course location and season! I am always happy to discuss wardrobe with these details in mind once you have booked, and also have a selection of client closet items available to borrow. Most importantly though, wear something you feel GOOD in! Styling tips and more are included in my detailed client prep guide, sent to all clients after booking!
Do you offer a client closet?
I do! I have adult size dresses in sizes S - XL and a handful of child and youth clothing (mostly dresses and some shoes), up to size 4T. Clients are welcome to borrow any of these items at no additional fee.
Do you have COVID-19 protocols in place?
Yes! Every soft prop is washed thoroughly between each shoot, and every hard prop is sanitized between clients. For most photos outdoor photos I can maintain 6 feet distance. All indoor sessions I wear a mask, and sanitize hands frequently.
